Viking Chess Description
Viking Chess, sometimes called Hnefatafl, is Scandanavia's version of chess. Train your brain or match wits with ancient Nordic warlords! The game is as simple to pick up as checkers, but the strategy can get as interesting as chess. Unlike many other board games, Viking Chess offers something quite refreshing: it is a game of asymmetry. You can play the King trying to escape, or you can play the Reds, who has surrounded him and will do anything to stop Him.Play multiplayer against other humans, or practice against the computer. We built our computer opponent (AI) from the ground up. To our knowledge, our AI at its highest level can beat any other publicly available AI.
Viking Chess is also sometimes called King's Table, Tafl or Tablut. There are different variations. This game is based on the Hnefatafl championship rules from the Fetlar Hnefatafl Comittee.
